Speech and voice coaching
Clarity, projection and confidence for speaking. Useful for presentations, teaching, interviews and public speaking — and no performing required at any point.
Not everyone who needs voice training wants to perform
- You have to present to forty people next month and you’d rather not.
- You teach, and your voice is gone by Thursday afternoon.
- You’re told you’re quiet, or that you speak too fast, or that you trail off at the end of sentences.
- You’re articulate in writing and something different happens out loud.
- Your voice does something under pressure that it doesn’t do at home.
None of that requires a stage. It’s all the same underlying set of skills that actors and singers train — just aimed somewhere more practical.
What we work on
- Breath. Nearly every speaking problem is a breathing problem first. Running out of air, going up in pitch under stress, speaking too fast to breathe properly, and the shallow chest breathing that anxiety produces and then feeds on.
- Projection without strain. Filling a room using resonance rather than force. Teachers, coaches and anyone who talks for a living tend to be pushing from the throat, which is exhausting and eventually damaging.
- Articulation. Being understood at speed. Small physical adjustments, mostly, and they make a disproportionate difference.
- Pace and pause. Nervous speakers accelerate. Pause is the single most powerful tool available and almost nobody uses it.
- Vocal variety. Pitch, volume and pace as tools for holding attention. Monotone isn’t a personality trait, it’s a habit.
- Vocal health. Warming up before a day of talking, and how to get through a week of it without losing your voice.
- Nerves and physical presence. Standing, breathing, where to look, and what to do in the ten seconds before you begin.
Who it’s for
Teachers and trainers — high-volume voice users, and the group most likely to be doing themselves damage.
Professionals who present — pitches, board papers, conferences, client meetings.
Anyone preparing for something specific — a wedding speech, a eulogy, a job interview, a school council meeting.
People who dislike the sound of their own voice on recordings and calls.
Students working on oral presentations and speaking assessments.
